CFD Simulation of Centrifugal Pump with Different Impeller Blade Trailing Edges

The centrifugal pump is one of the most widely used types power machinery in field ship and ocean engineering, shape impeller blade trailing edge has an important influence on their performance. To reveal mechanism effect different edges external performance, internal flow 16 a pump, consisting Bezier edges, rounding pressure side, cutting suction original studied by numerical simulation. reverse flow, shaft power, energy loss distribution diffuser along streamwise direction are analyzed calculating them each micro control body sliced from fluid domain. entropy production theory Ω-vortex identification method to display magnitude location vortex structure. Finally, static structural analysis with performed. results show that can clearly affect efficiency i.e., thinner edge, higher efficiency, thickest model reducing 5.71% thinnest increasing 0.59% compared one. Changing great near inlet but little leading part impeller. local rate, loss, shows similar rules, maximum due impact effect, global resulting strong separation high strength jet-wake flow. Thinning smoothing its connection reduce inlet, improve pattern, thus improving efficiency. In all models, equivalent stress less than 6.5 MPa total deformation 0.065mm. helpful for deeper understanding complex edges.
